Extention of municipal sewer system in Beroun / 19. 10. 2006 /

In several places at the same time, the extension of the municipal sewer system in Beroun in Central Bohemia which is realised by Division 2 – Prague in association with Skanska CZ a.s., goes on. This large project comprises 16.3 kilometres of sewer pipes in total and will affect a number of neighbourhoods between Beroun and Králův dvůr. Its completion will significantly increase the quality of water in local streams. The investor is the town of Beroun and the total expenses amount to CZK 400 million (part of it coming from the structural funds of the European Union).

Fotografie BerounThe sewer system is newly introduced into hilly terrain and protection of the existing networks will be increased at the same time. A steel pipe line with a diameter of one meter will go under the riverbed of Berounka, the stream of Litavka will be crossed two times and the sewer system will also lead under the Praha – Plzeň D5 highway. The sewer system extension will touch about thirty percent of Beroun's territory, first of all in the area adjacent to the backbone line between Beroun and Králův Dvůr. The inhabitants of Jarov, Zavadilka, Záhořany or the urban neighbourhood Na Cibulce can look forward to a new sewer system. However, the development will be carried out in eleven stages, so that no locality stays isolated, without transport connections.

The construction works were officially initiated by hetman of the Central Bohemian Region, Ing. Petr Bendl and mayor of Beroun, MUDr. Jiří Besser who laid the foundation stone on May 29.
